Blackberry Hill Public Right of Way to remain closed.

Access to the Public Right of Way Whatton FP1 (Blackberry Hill) over the footbridge across the Whipling is to remain closed until at least the 30th April 2021.

The Closure Continuation Notice is the second to extend the Closure of the Right of Way at this point which was first issued on the 31st October 2019. 

The notice is reproduced below:

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (WHATTON IN THE VALE FOOTPATH NO.1)  (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) CONTINUATION ORDER 2019

 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council HAS MADE an ORDER, under Sections 14 and 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:

  • To continue the effects of THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (WHATTON IN THE VALE FOOTPATH NO.1) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) NOTICE 2019.
  • That Notice came into force on 31st October 2019 and continues in force to 20th November 2019.

The effects are that:-

No person shall: – 

  • proceed on foot,
    • in the following length of footpath at Whatton in the Vale in the Borough of Rushcliffe: –
    • WHATTON IN THE VALE FOOTPATH NO.1, At the footbridge over the dyke at grid reference SK 7499 3973
  • AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction there is no alternative route available on public rights of way.
    • IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition respecting the above highway or highways will apply as follows:-
      • To 30th April 2020 inclusive.

The Continuation Order will come into force on 21st November 2019 and any prohibition contained in the continued Order shall apply on that day and on any subsequent day or days when it shall be necessary for the prohibition to apply to enable works to be carried out and the Order shall continue in full force until the works it is proposed to carry out are completed The duration of this Order may be extended with the approval of the relevant Secretary of State.

The prohibition is required for public safety and to enable repairs to be made to the footbridge.
